Three types of plus size body types are most talked about in fashion.

The first type is:  Pear shaped figure where upper body is smaller than the lower half; athletic figures are straight, without curves, toned and majorly squared bodies; and apple shaped figures are those where upper body is larger than the lower half. One should remember that measurements change over a lifetime but the basic body type remains constant throughout. The pear shaped body types have defined waists and narrow back. Such body types should put more focus on the face, neck, chest, waist and arms. Some ways to broaden the shoulder line could be; by wearing wide colourful shirts having broad necks; square necklines and cowl necklines are helpful. Applying eye shade to highlight the small face is another useful tip.

The best way to cover your hips can be to start wearing flowing dresses that can elongate the lower half and make the body type look proportionate. Athletic body types have broad shoulders, toned arms, a flat stomach, square hips and fewer curves throughout. An intelligent way to make this body type look good is to create an illusion of curves by wearing a particular type of silhouettes and belts that will help in defining some shape to the body.

Wearing ruffles and lace necks can enhance the bust line and make the shoulders look thin. Shirts with pleats, panels and chiffon dresses can enhance the not so appealing athletic body types. Apple shaped figures are comparatively challenging but it can cover the problem areas if clothes are worn properly. Such figures should say no-no to clingy shirts. Using loose shirts and skinny jeans having vertical pattern can make the body type look slim. To draw the attention away from the heavy upper part, avoid wearing turtle necks, therefore, V shaped necklines can help reducing focus on the upper half.

Lastly, you should realize that there are a few cuts that look good on a store’s hanger but they might not look superb for your body type. The ideal garments are those which have a reasonable silhouette. Therefore, while dressing, remember to flaunt your assets and play up with your curves.
