The Pakistan Super League’s 9th season brings its set of anthems, each aiming to capture the nation’s cricket fervor amidst a backdrop of political turmoil. However, the Multan Sultans’ anthem, despite featuring talents like Natasha Noorani, Maanu, and Talal Qureshi, fails to make a mark or resonate with the rich cultural heritage of Multan.
Titled ‘Sultanat‘, the song disappoints fans looking for a musical escape from the current political climate, offering little that ties it to Multan’s storied past as a spiritual and historical hub. The anthem lacks the creativity and cultural connection expected from a city with such a rich tapestry of history and fails to stand out in the sea of PSL anthems.
The music video, while featuring some creative edits and effects, cannot compensate for the song’s lackluster audio. The heavy reliance on generic synth sounds and pitch-corrected vocals adds to the anthem’s uninspired feel, making ‘Sultanat’ more of a missed opportunity than a celebration of Multan’s unique identity.
